The influence of opposites and contrasting ideas is a compelling force in my artistic journey, making it a stimulating exploration. Throughout my life, I find emotional depth most attractive. My craving for a more complete experience and deeper understanding of the world compelled me to go beyond the superficial surface of things. As a child, I was most content while exploring the natural world around me, then retreating to the safety of my little closet to mull over what I had discovered. As I explore the precarious balance of the world we currently live in, I force myself to look at the tumult and then retreat to the comfort and sanctuary of making art around it. Photography has rewarded me with the pleasure and perils of the need for this texture in my life. Through this medium, I express visually what cannot be spoken.
